Where is located Kutaisi?
Kutaisi is an ancient city of more than 3 500 years old history in West part of Georgia which is a country in the Caucasus region of Eurasia. Located at the crossroads of Western Asia and Eastern Europe, it is bounded to the west by the Black Sea, to the north by Russia, to the south by Turkey and Armenia, and to the southeast by Azerbaijan. The capital and largest city is Tbilisi.
Kutaisi is the 3rd most populous city (population:147 000) in Georgia which is situated 221 kilometers (137 miles) west of Tbilisi, 85 kilometers near to port – Poti, 140 kilometers from Batumi (nice beaches of Black Sea) on the Rioni River, it is the capital of the western region of Imereti. Historically one of the major cities of Georgia, it served as the capital of the Kingdom of Georgia in the Middle Ages, and later as the capital of the Kingdom of Imereti. From October 2012 to December 2018, Kutaisi was parliamentary city of Georgia as there was functioned House of Parliament of Georgia.
The history of Kutaisi is linked to the Argonaut Myth (for more information see Myth about Golden Fleece). Its name among the oldest cities of the world. In 1089 David the Builder (Agmashenebeli) one of the most powerful King of Georgia was crowned in Bagrati Cathedral as the king of centralized state. It was the start of the Great Era in Georgia. The powerful religious, cultural and educational center the citadel of scientific thoughts ‘the second Jerusalem’, ‘another Athens’, - the Gelati monastery remained in Kutaisi from David the Buidler’s Great Era. Despite losing the status of the first city of the country Kutaisi never lost importance in the history of Georgia.

Central Boulevard of Kutaisi which was built in 1848. There are big old trees and a fountain; in short it is nice place to relax.

Niko Berzenishvili Kutaisi State History Museum
The museum was established in 1921, it houses more than 150 thousand items of cultural heritage of the country (from IX-VII c.c. B.C. up to late medieval times). Among them are: Bronze Age and Antiquity period monuments – archaeological discoveries from western Georgia, rare samples Georgian, Roman, Byzantine and Oriental history, everyday life and culture rare objects, collection of oldest epigraphic monuments and Georgian manuscripts. Zakaria Paliashvili House-Museum
It was established in 1963. Zakaria Paliashvili was the founder of Georgian National Composition School. He was the Head of Conservatory and a national hero. There are kept memorial objects related to the life and work of Zakaria Paliashvili. Kutaisi Sport Museum
It was established in 1970. The museum houses collections of medals, cups, prizes, photographs of Georgian Olympic, World and Europe champions. Kutaisi National Museum of Military Glory
It was established in 1975. The museum houses objects connected with Georgian military history (weapons and armaments), materials and documents of II World War’s (soldier’s photos, awards, correspondence etc.), aggressions in Abkhazeti (1991-1993) and South Osetia (Samachablo) in August 2008. King Bagrat III built it on the foundations of the destroyed eight century church in the honour of the two brothers, national heroes and saints in the Georgian Orthodox Church, Davit and Konstantine. On 15th of October is celebrated Motsameta Day and are visited by numerous pilgrims and people.

It is in front of Lado Meskhishvili Drama Theater. Here except above mentioned museums, you can go down to Gaponovi street which was Jewish settlement district since Middle Ages. You can see here two Synagogues built in 1886 and 1912. There is St. Georgia Church, too. Also, there is MacDonald’s and two storied newly built church.
It was built in 10-11th centuries where crowned first King of United Georgia, Bagrati III. In 1089 David the Builder (Agmashenebeli) was crowned in this temple, too. In 2009, the reconstruction of the Cathedral was done.
It was done in 1968 and has 12 attractions in its 4.6 hectares. It has beautiful view over the city and by carriage you can go down to the historical part of the city. Here you can see famous White Bridge, Okros Chardakhi (Residence of Imeretian King), public school N1 where studied most famous honorable people of Georgia, public school N3 which played vital role in the political, social and cultural development of Georgia during two centuries, the biggest tourism center in Georgia - Tourism Center of Imereti region, David Kakabadze Kutaisi Fine Art Gallery.
It is 300m long and here you can see the steps of dinosaurs, as well as the unity of stalactites and stalagmites. There is the glassed balcony from where you can see Kutaisi. There is nice forest and rich nature.
It is very nice place with a small garden full of flowers and bushes; here is also the café on the edge of the lake; down from it you can walk to the Central park of Tskaltubo on foot and enjoy the beautiful nature of it.
It is 1 600 m. long. All year round in the cave is permanently 14C. The cave will enable the establishment of balneological courses, the treatment of asthma and other diseases. There is the boat trip in the cave too which will leave unforgettable impression.

It is a favorite place of Stalin, it has nice fountain and statue in front of it; it is possible to do modern medical treatment and have bathes here, too.
It is a beautiful park with rich nature, you can walk and relax here whole year.
Here buses and micro buses go to any directions, it is the main central bus station.
